Rebel Rider
This is the second go around for this particular bike. The owner is a hardworking custom home builder who rides this beast like he stole it and twists the wick all the way back on an all too regular basis. Jake is definitely a “Rebel Rider” but has a heart of gold. He and his family are big donors and supporters the Children’s Ride in Seattle every year and this past year was no different. Psycho Bro’s in Spanaway, WA built the 1st first iteration of this bike back in 2003 with plenty of input from Jake. This time around Jake wanted a fresh new look and only had about 2 months to get it done so of course he headed right over to the shop to discuss it. Larry Frye from Psycho Bro’s pretty much told Jake to, “Let me have my way with it”, this time and after some cajoling and coaxing Jake decided to allow Larry pretty much free rain. The only demands Jake had were about the paint and the time. It had to be Drab Olive Green and had to be done by the children’s ride. Additional modifications to the sheet metal were also called for during this build. The six gallon tank was modified with a 4” tunnel drop, dished in, with polished stainless steel rod welded and molded in for a totally cool classic look. The rear fender was no exception and received an equal amount of attention with the stainless treatment. Originally Larry intended to discard of the front fender but with Washington weather being what it is and the “customer is always right”, reliability over rides creativity in some cases. Another touch was the in house built handlebars and risers to give it the right look and feel. A healthy dose of glossy black powder coat made some older parts take on a new life and a completely new and radical look. The 107” TP power plant is bullet proof and only needed some minor freshening up and some good detailing to power this brute. Like any Psycho Bro’s bike, this bike was built to be ridden hard with a lot of daily abuse and still look good anywhere it’s ridden in to. The build was completed on schedule and Jake rode it through the Seattle sunshine (rain) in the lead pack on the day of the children’s ride and garnered a lot of attention, looks, and compliments. A few riders bowed out of the ride due to the weather but that just isn’t Jake’s style.
